having-kids-sleep

So I feel compelled to write a post that will probably give you a headache. The purpose of this post is for people who want to know what a night and morning really really looks like when you have a 4 month old baby. Not all 4 month olds are the same of course, but many experience sleep regression, teething and sleep association problems. I’m going to start with what it really looks like at night…so you can feel how {Read More}

Lucas is 4 Months Old: Well Check Visit

lucas-4-months

Today we had Lucas’ 4 month well check visit. He weighed 15 pounds 3 ounces and is in the 57th percentile for weight. He is 24.5 inches long and in the 22nd percentile. He is starting to teethe. He is dripping wet with saliva and has been chewing his hands profusely. We purchased $34 worth of teething toys and stuff at Babies R Us that will probably never work, right? I had an interesting visit at the pediatrician’s office. I {Read More}

booster-seat-requirements

Are you wondering what the booster seat requirements are? First, I need to give you some safety advice. PLEASE do not put your child in a booster seat with seat belt just because they can now meet the minimum standards for a booster seat. The laws for your state does not mean it is the safest thing for your child. This is a topic of importance to me so please take the time to read this post. A 2, 3 or {Read More}

Having 3 Kids: Part 2

If you missed my first blog post about having 3 kids, check it out. My baby is now barely 3 months old, and we’re finally getting a tiny chance to breathe. Having 3 kids age 5 and under is no small task. However, I wouldn’t change it for anything. My baby was diagnosed with acid reflux. All of my children were diagnosed with that as a baby, but out of the 3 of them, he definitely has it the worse. {Read More}

Stay at Home Mom Schedule: My Daily Schedules Over the Years

I’ve been staying at home for a few years now since 2009. I have been unable to find a job worthwhile outside of the home to support daycare costs for my kids. I’ve always wondered what other moms and dads have done during the day that stay at home full time. Sometimes my days are packed, sometimes my days are very slow. Over the years, I’ve posted my various daily schedules that I’ve had while staying at home, which I {Read More}

How Much Sleep Should Your Child Get?

how-much-sleep-child-need

  How much sleep should your child get?  If your child is in elementary school, it is vitally important for him to get enough sleep. Keeping your child up later than she should be awake can lead to behavioral and academic problems, mood swings, sleep disorders, and cognitive problems that affect learning. According to WebMD and SleeoFoundation.org: A child 5-6 years of age (this would be Kindergarten age), should get 10-12 hours of sleep. A child 7-12 years of age {Read More}

Potty Training Your Child: Don’t Push It

potty-training-your-child

Thinking about potty training your child? I stress to you to please not push it if your child is not ready. Lurking on message boards I see mothers who are irate that their child is not potty training. This week we have finally mastered potty training with my three year old daughter. My son was also potty trained at three years old. Maybe my new baby will surprise us all and potty train at two years old. But if he {Read More}

Interview with a 5 Year Old: What is President’s Day

  My 5 year old son is in Kindergarten. I thought it would be interesting to film what he says when I ask him questions. He is still learning about the world, so I love hearing his answers. Check out what he thinks about President’s Day. Yes, I will be teaching him more than what he said in the video. He was very excited to be filmed, he even changed his shirt for the occasion. Next time I will make sure {Read More}

Breast Pump Coverage and Affordable Care Act 2013: Denied a Breast Pump Because My Baby is 2 Months Old

  So you know the Affordable Care Act passed by Congress that says moms can get breast pumps? Well it seems that I will be DENIED a pump if I even try to get one although my baby is only 2 months old. You’ve probably heard you only need a prescription from your doctor, but there are stipulations. Apparently the BIG stipulation is you need to get the breast pump within 30 days of giving birth. So that means I {Read More}

Bedtime Songs for Little Kids: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

YouTube is great to find kid friendly songs, especially for the little kids. I have watched several versions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. My kids’ favorite version is by the Wiggles. It’s very safe and little kid friendly. My daughter loves to watch it because she loves ballerinas!! I can’t wait until my almost 2 month old son watches it! The song is a little over 2 minutes long. My children never watched The Wiggles on television, but they do {Read More}
